I’m writing a book about Neovim. (Or maybe an e-mail course? The shape of the thing is still unclear.) It’s aimed at people who already know the basics and are interested in going deeper and getting faster — configuration, plugins, advanced navigation.
I’m writing a newsletter as I write the book. My goal here is part marketing, part feedback, and part motivation. I’ve been sitting on this announcement for a couple of weeks now, procrastinating on writing this first post and a rough draft of an outline that’s worthy of sharing with people. That’s a lot of time I’m not writing, researching, or getting feedback from ya’ll.
So, hey, here it is.
I’ve got a very early, very rough outline available for comment. Let me know what you think! Anything that’s confusing? You’d like more detail on? That’s particularly exciting? That’s not in there but should be?
Send me an e-mail, leave a comment here, or comment directly on the outline.
This newsletter is and will remain free. I’m doing this on Substack because I want to see how its recommendation features work, I have no plans to write a paid newsletter.
If you sign up you’ll get
Lots and lots of emails about how to get really good at using Neovim
Influence over what parts of Neovim I really go deep on
Early access to drafts
A 50% discount on the ebook (or whatever) when it’s available
And if you know anyone else who’d like to join this journey of Neovim learning, send them a link! The more folks who can get early eyes on this thing, the better the final product will be.
Finally— thanks. If you’re reading this now, you’re making it possible for me to do this project. I am absolutely not one of these people who can disappear into a cave for five years and come out with a book. I’ve gotta have feedback, man — some sign that someone out there is listening. Subscribers — and especially comments and replies — have been amazing for me as a way to generate sustained output.
And I’ve been really delighted to see the response to this project in particular. I love Vim, love learning about it, and love sharing what I know about it. It’s really energizing and — dare I say life affirming? is that much? — to meet so many people who share that love.
